This is the reason why Olerup SSP AB strives to continually develop and produce reagents for HLA typing at both low and high resolution level. Almost 20 years have passed since PCR-SSP applied to the field of HLA first was introduced by Associate Professor Olle Olerup to the global market (reference 1-2)
Ref 1: Olerup O, Zetterquist H, HLA-DRB1*01 subtyping by allele-specific PCR amplification: a sensitive, specific and rapid technique, Tissue Antigens, 1991 May;37(5):197-204.
Ref 2: Olerup O, Zetterquist H, HLA-DR typing by PCR amplification with sequencespecific primers (PCR-SSP) in 2 hours: an alternative to serological DR typing in clinical practice including donor-recipient matching in cadaveric transplantation, Tissue Antigens, 1992 May;39(5):225-35.
Olerup SSP is the world leader in the development of kits for genomic HLA typing, which is used prior to transplantations to match donors with recipients. Better matching reduces the risk of complications following transplantation. HLA typing is a standard procedure in bone marrow transplantation (hematopoietic stem cell transplantation) and organ transplantation (kidney, lung, heart, and others).
